21 June to 30 June 2023

Sydney, Australia

The ICON•S winter/summer school will be hosted in Sydney from 21st to 30th June 2023, immediately prior to the ICON•S Wellington conference. The winter/summer school will be convened by Prof. Rosalind Dixon (Honorary President of ICON•S) and jointly organized by ICON•S through its Committee on Community and Engagement, UNSW Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law, NUS Law Centre for Asian Legal Studies, The University of Hamburg and ICON•S Aus-NZ.

ICON•S | The International Society of Public Law invites you to apply for its first winter/summer school for junior scholars scheduled to be held from June 21 to 30, 2023, in Sydney, Australia.

Aims of the ICON•S Winter/Summer School

The ICON•S winter/summer school will offer the opportunity for approximately twenty junior scholars to deepen their sense of connection and community within ICON•S after a period of virtual conferencing.

It will offer a set of introductory sessions conducted by leading scholars in the field focused on methodologies, writing and publishing, select skills, and career planning. These sessions will be followed by opportunities to workshop a draft article or chapter and receive in-depth comments on the same.

Who Can Participate

Applications for the ICON•S winter/summer school are open to all junior scholars.

A junior scholar is defined as an aspiring career academic who self-identifies as such and/or whose terminal degree for entering the profession has not yet begun, is in the process of being completed, or was earned within the previous five years (excluding career breaks).

Financial Support

The organizers will provide accommodation for the duration of the ICON•S winter/summer school and some meals in Sydney.

In addition, participants planning to attend the ICON•S Annual Conference in Wellington, New Zealand, will be provided travel funding for economy-class airfare from Sydney to Wellington.
